Adobe’s recent acquisition of Figma for $20 billion has taken the design world worried. But what does this mean for the future of design? Here, we’ll explore the implications of Adobe’s acquisition of Figma, and what it could mean for the world of digital design.

What is Figma?

Figma is web-based design software that allows individuals & teams to collaborate and share their work with each other in real-time. It’s used by designers, product managers, engineers, and many more people. Figma is mostly used for UI/UX design however, if someone is professional with Figma, He/she can use it for every graphic design purpose including interactive design, logo design, branding, etc.

Why people are concerned and worried about the acquisition of Figma?

If any person starts to use Figma, he/she fell love with it only because of its simplicity, decent interface, and its rich features. On the other hand, learning and using any of Adobe’s products are quite complex & challenging. Additionally, the Adobe XD alternative to Figma, is not free however Figma has an additional plan for educators and students. People are concerned because they believed that Adobe will end the Figma education plan and implement a plan (7 days free) similar to Adobe XD. I’m not implying that the products of Adobe are not good at all. Adobe is one of the oldest and best companies However adobe is not upgrading its products from time to time like the other software. It’s the time of Artificial Intelligence and nowadays we just need to give the text to a computer to edit or generate images. For example, DALL-E.

Souce: DAll-E

So if Adobe focuses on upgrades maybe it will be best. The biggest issue is that Adobe has a wide range of products, which prevents them from concentrating on future Figma improvements.

The Implications of Adobe’s Acquisition of Figma

There are a few key implications of Adobe’s acquisition of Figma. First, it consolidates Adobe’s position as the dominant player in the digital design space. Second, it gives Adobe access to Figma’s user base of millions of designers. And third, it gives Adobe a foothold in the growing market for collaborative design tools.

So, what does this mean for the future of digital design? First, we’ll likely see more consolidation in the industry as other companies try to keep up with Adobe. Second, we’ll see more collaboration between designers using different tools, as Adobe will now have a presence in both the individual and collaborative design spaces. And finally, we’ll see an increase in the use of cloud-based design tools, as Adobe continues to invest in its Creative Cloud platform.

Conclusion

The two companies Adobe (Adobe XD) & Figma are major competitors in the design software space and Adobe has been trying to keep up with them in recent years, but they’ve been having trouble keeping their prices competitive. This acquisition will help them do that as well as provide an all-in-one design tool for both web and mobile applications.

This acquisition is not the first one for Adobe as they have also bought other companies like Behance and Typekit in the past. May be, the reason behind this acquisition could be Adobe’s need to compete against rivals like Sketch, which is an alternative to Figma.
